Teacher360 conducted an online professional learning session for the educators of Amber Valley Residential School, Chikmagalur, on The Art and Science of Questioning, facilitated by Mr. G. Balasubramanian.
The session positioned question papers as reflections of a school’s learning culture, emphasising their role in shaping thinking, inquiry, and understanding. It highlighted the shift from teacher-centric instruction to student-centric facilitation, where questioning becomes a key driver of meaningful learning.
Educators engaged with designing questions across cognitive levels, addressing diverse learner abilities, and building competency-based assessments using clear and purposeful language. A key emphasis was placed on aligning each question to a specific competency, ensuring clarity, relevance, and intent.
The session also underscored the importance of contextual and experiential questioning, encouraging connections beyond textbooks.
A central takeaway emerged: the quality of learning is defined by the quality of questions we design.
