Safety in School – Infrastructure and Geography Series 1

Safety in School – Infrastructure and Geography Series 1
Safety in School – Infrastructure and Geography Series 1
7 October 2026, 4:30pm - 5:30pm | 1 hour
Online

School safety is often discussed in terms of rules, protocols and emergency preparedness. But safety begins much earlier — with the spaces schools are built in, the infrastructure they operate with and the geographical realities they must respond to.

Is school infrastructure designed with safety in mind?
From buildings and circulation spaces to laboratories, playgrounds, transport areas and emergency exits, how well do our physical environments support the safety of students and staff?

Does geography change the nature of school safety?
Floods, heat, earthquakes, cyclones, landslides, urban congestion and other location-specific risks can create very different safety challenges. Are schools prepared for the realities of their own geography?

Is safety a compliance requirement or a culture?
Beyond meeting regulations and conducting drills, how can schools build everyday awareness, preparedness and shared responsibility for safety?

The question is not simply whether a school is safe today, but whether it is designed and prepared to remain safe in the face of changing environments and unexpected situations.

In Series 1 of Safety in School, let us examine the relationship between infrastructure, geography and school safety, bringing together perspectives from experienced school leaders and education practitioners.

A conversation to understand risks, question assumptions and explore how safer schools can be thoughtfully designed and prepared.

WeMeet details

Date: 7 October 2026
Time: 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM IST (60 Minutes Session)
Mode: Online via Zoom

Why WeMeet?

Because school safety cannot be addressed through a single checklist. It requires educators and school leaders to examine the spaces they create, the risks around them and the systems they put in place.

WeMeet brings educators together to:

✔ Examine how infrastructure influences school safety
✔ Understand how geographical conditions shape risk and preparedness
✔ Reflect on safety beyond compliance and documentation
✔ Identify vulnerabilities in the physical school environment
✔ Share experiences and perspectives from different school contexts
✔ Explore how schools can build stronger preparedness and safety cultures
✔ Connect infrastructure, geography and leadership in creating safer schools

Not another webinar. A space to think, question and learn together.

As part of the WeMeet Dialogue Series | Safety in Schools – Issues & Concerns, participants can access a copy of the book School Safety, authored by Mr G. Balasubramanian and published by the Quality Council of India (QCI).

We encourage educators to read this valuable resource as they reflect on the key themes and concerns surrounding safety in schools.
