School leadership is often reduced to administration, coordination and decision-making. But is managing a school the same as leading one?

A principal may have authority. A coordinator may have responsibility. A senior educator may have experience. Yet none of these, by themselves, guarantee effective leadership.

Leadership in contemporary schools demands something deeper: the ability to understand oneself, question established assumptions, think critically, learn continuously, and influence the culture in which learning takes place.

As schools confront changing learner expectations, evolving pedagogies, complex stakeholder relationships and growing institutional demands, leaders cannot afford to lead yesterday’s schools with yesterday’s assumptions.

Teacher360 presents a thoughtfully designed 3-day online professional learning programme on “Reimagining School Leadership”, created to help educators examine the leader within, question commonly held beliefs about leadership, and develop a mindset that enables continuous growth.

With decades of experience in education, academic leadership, institutional development and mentoring educators across India, Mr G Balasubramanian brings a perspective shaped by extensive engagement with schools, educators and the changing realities of education.

His approach to leadership goes beyond prescriptions and ready-made formulas. He challenges educators to look beneath practices, question assumptions and examine the thinking that drives educational decisions.

For leaders navigating increasingly complex school environments, this creates an opportunity not merely to learn about leadership, but to reconsider what leadership itself means.

Why this programme matters

Schools have changed. Yet many leadership practices continue to operate on assumptions formed in a very different educational environment.

Today, school leaders are expected to:

  • Respond to rapidly changing educational expectations
  • Lead increasingly diverse teams and learning communities
  • Navigate competing stakeholder expectations
  • Support changing approaches to teaching and learning
  • Build cultures of trust, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Make decisions in situations where there are rarely simple answers
  • Remain learners themselves while leading the learning of others

The challenge, therefore, is not simply to add more leadership skills, it is to examine the thinking behind leadership.

Are our leadership practices still relevant? Are our assumptions still valid? And are we, as leaders, still growing? This programme creates a space to explore those questions.

Workshop Schedule & Themes

Day 1 (28 September 2026)

Know the Leader in You

Leadership begins with the person occupying the role. This session examines self-awareness, leadership identity, personal strengths, behaviours and beliefs that influence how educators lead, make decisions and engage with others. Participants will be encouraged to look beyond the designation and examine the individual behind it.

The focus: understanding how the leader's own thinking, behaviour and self-awareness shape leadership effectiveness.

Day 2 (29 September 2026)

Leadership Fallacies

Leadership is surrounded by assumptions that are rarely questioned. Is authority the same as influence? Does experience automatically make someone an effective leader? Is being decisive always a sign of strong leadership? This session examines common leadership fallacies and misconceptions, encouraging participants to challenge comfortable assumptions and distinguish between leadership that merely appears effective and leadership that creates meaningful influence.

The focus: questioning the beliefs that shape leadership behaviour.

Day 3 (30 September 2026)

Growth Mindset

A school cannot build a culture of continuous learning if its leaders have stopped learning themselves. This session explores the role of adaptability, reflection, feedback, resilience and continuous learning in leadership. Participants will examine how a growth-oriented mindset can influence not only individual leadership effectiveness, but also the culture and capacity of the institution.

The focus: moving from maintaining what exists to continuously improving what is possible.

What participants will gain

✔ Greater awareness of their own leadership identity, strengths and behaviours
✔ Greater ability to question conventional leadership thinking
✔ A stronger growth-oriented approach to leadership
✔ Reflective frameworks for examining leadership practice
✔ Practical perspectives that can be connected to real school situations
✔ Greater clarity on how individual leadership influences school culture and institutional growth

Who should attend

This programme is designed for educators who currently lead, influence or aspire to lead educational institutions.

  • School Principals and Vice Principals
  • Academic Coordinators and Section Heads
  • Heads of Departments
  • School Owners and Management Representatives
  • Senior Educators and Teacher Leaders
  • Aspiring School Leaders
  • Institutions nominating leadership teams for professional development

A leadership programme rooted in school realities

This is not a programme about collecting another set of leadership techniques. It is an opportunity to step away from the demands of the role and examine the thinking behind the role.

Through reflective conversations and practical perspectives, participants will explore questions that have direct relevance to school culture, professional relationships, decision-making and institutional growth.

Because the most important leadership development may not begin with learning what to do differently. It may begin with understanding what we currently believe and whether those beliefs still serve the school.

Participant takeaways

✔ Certificate of Participation
✔ Curated Learning Resources
✔ Reflective Learning Summary
✔ Access to Meaningful Professional Learning Conversations

The question is not whether you hold a leadership position. The question is whether you are still growing as a leader.

Helped me know that a collaborative and dynamic environment helps to create a conducive workplace for all to work towards a shared goal. There were a lot of takeaways on how, individual branding is as important as institution branding. With a lot of anecdotes and examples the concept reached our grey mater.I feel more confident to take up leadership challenges and also came to know that there is room to grow as I implement what I learnt. Leadership is dynamic and an evolving process.A key takeaway from these sessions. "Walk the talk"
